Wireless Home Security Systems

With the amount of crime escalating, home security systems are a must have. With the frequent amount of burglaries occuring, you simply must protect your loved ones as well as your possessions. There are various types of security systems available for you to choose from. There are wired and wireless home security systems available. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, as well as the difference in cost.

The technology of wired and wireless systems is quite different. Wireless systems do not require wiring throughout the house but send messages through radio signals to a central panel. In the beginning, wireless systems proved to be slightly unreliable as compared to wired systems. However, with more and more R & D, there seem to be no more dissatisfaction. Wireless security systems are very convenient to install as there is no need for wiring. This saves time, money and chaos of ripping floors and walls to place wires all over the house. But they are very expensive as compared to wired systems and there is also a recurring cost of replacing batteries. The advantage of wireless systems also lies in easy relocation of components. A wireless system can also be shifted from one house to another.

When compared to wired systems, wireless home security systems are less of a hassle and easier to install, since you don’t have to deal with the wiring. Wireless security systems can be more effective when it comes down to money, time, and effort since you don’t have to rip out your flooring or walls. Wireless security systems on the other hand are more expensive than wired systems and you will have to replace their batteries on a regular schedule. The primary advantage of wireless security systems is that they are easily transferrable. This means that you can more them to your next residence with ease.

The second situation when they become handy is when you want to move out. Wireless security day and night cameras that are vital parts of all our wireless home security systems can be easily removed and installed again in your new house saving you several hundred dollars for a new security system.

On both occasions the advantages of having wireless home security systems are crystal clear. The installation process takes at least half as much as in case of wired systems and you can place your cameras virtually everywhere without needing to worry about the wiring. Many people don’t think about such things until they find out that they need a camera on the roof.

Your home is your personal refuge. It should be the safest place for you, your family, and your love ones to reside. The last thing you want to do is let chaos get inside. The outside world is filled with craziness and this order and you want to make sure that you don’t let it get in.

Reduce the risk of crime by making taking these precautions. Think about how a burglar would act; evaluate your home in terms of weaknesses and strengths. Home security is of the utmost importance for your family, so take time to assess your home’s vulnerabilities.

Windows are a good place to start. Were you aware that about a third of burglaries occur with the thief entering via an unsecured window? To make your windows less susceptible to burglaries, consider getting enhanced security glass panes, which are laminated and harder to break. Or, if you don’t want to replace your current window panes, use locks.

Thieves can see window locks from the outside; they are less likely to target a house with window locks as it adds up to more work and to potentially higher risk of exposure, as they would have to break the glass to get in. Many home security stores or even hardware and home improvement shops offer inexpensive locks that fit most types of windows. These usually come with keys that should be stored away in a safe place. You should lock up all downstairs windows and windows that may be easy to reach. Even smaller skylights may be vulnerable, so lock them up.

Let’s take a look at doors. Over half of all break-ins originate at an unsecured door. Preventing this requires good locks. You should get deadbolts loss with at least 1 inch of throw to be installed on all of your doors. The strike plates should have screws and a minimum of 3 inches. Exterior doors should all be made of solid hardwood or metal. Reinforcing of the doors with a steel strip and plates will also add to better security.

The hinges should be located inside with non-removable pins. You can install a rim lock to the inside of a door for added security; these lock automatically when the door closes. Fit bolts to the top and bottom of all outside doors. All entrances should have some sort of door viewer installed so you can see who’s outside. You can also use a chain for answering the door; don’t rely on it for reinforcement though, as it is easily broken.

Don’t leave yourself open to making it easy for a thief. Do not leave spare keys in obvious places. Remember, you may think you’re being clever but a thief knows all the secret hiding places. If you do hide keys, change the location every month. Don’t hide keys near windows, doors, under the doormat, or in a flower pot.

Lighting is also very important for your safety. Well lit entrances will keep you from getting surprise visitors. Also, lights active as a deterrent. You can find many different kinds of security lights that will not use a lot of power. Make the lights hard to get too so they can’t be disconnected. Also consider motion activated lights.

Finally, when you think about it, a good home security system may also be in your best interest. By getting a home alarm you are adding that extra layer of protection to your home. You are also connected to a monitoring center in the event that you have a fire, or a major emergency. The monitoring system can send out help quickly.

With the extensive use of technology and sophisticated gadgets there has been a marked improvement in the characteristic of human life in various respects. Modern technology has also made people’s lives much safer. Electronic alarms have helped people to make their homes less vulnerable to burglary. Home security alarm systems are very popular because of their efficiency and relatively low price.

Bell only alarms produce a high pitch siren when your home security has been breached. The purpose of this alarm is two fold. Firstly the loud siren is designed to act as a significant deterrent to the continuation of the criminal activity by informing the intruder that their breach of your home security has been detected. Usually the alarm is pitched to a high frequency making it uncomfortable for the intruder to remain on your premises.

The purpose of the bell alarm is to inform anyone in the vicinity of the residence, including occupants and neighbors that the home security has been breached. While this is a good feature if you are home or have someone nearby who can respond to the security alert it is not so useful if you are away from your home.

In contrast, monitored alarms are alarms, which refer the home security breach to an off site, third party observer, usually an alarm monitoring company. There are two types of monitored alarms, bell alarms, which produce audible, high-pitched tones, and silent alarms, which are not heard by the intruder.

These units are reasonably priced and can be installed without much difficulty. In alarm systems with separate components the units divide the sensor from the control and alarm. They function effectively in larger homes with multiple rooms needing simultaneous protection.

Getting The Most For Your Money in Home Security

Home security systems may be excellent for break ins and fires, but do you know how much these systems cost?

Needless to say, you’ll need to make a few sacrifices when it comes to some of the more complicated home security features, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for a more affordable option.

Ideally, the cheapest option would be to build your own home security system. You’ll obviously have to invest in your knowledge and spend some time in doing this.

Could I Really Do It Myself?

You should start by putting together your own home security system; it might seem hard at first, but it’s not as difficult as it seems if you have a good plan.

First, find vulnerable areas in your house. Look for broken locks, doors, and windows. This might seem basic but fixing these obvious areas is a necessary before you decide to hire a home security company.

Just because a home security system is affordable, doesn’t mean it doesn’t provide the necessary protection. A lot of cheap home security systems offer fire safety, for example.

If you don’t have any, install smoke detectors and make sure they’re working. Next, get some carbon monoxide detectors as well because these are odorless but very dangerous gases.

Next, take a look at the general home security market and ask yourself what else you’d like to incorporate in your home security system. How about security cameras? Or even motion sensors?

If you’ve researched your house’s vulnerable areas well enough, these questions should be easy to answer.

Cheap home securities systems aren’t bad, they’re just affordable. You’ll get as much of the benefits as if a company came in and installed it for you. Sure, knowing your home is safe is a great feeling, but paying the high costs isn’t.

You’ll be all right as long as you follow your home security plan.
